Fan Season Preview: Sunderland

Sunderland - Roy KeaneThe new 07/08 Premiership season is set to kick-off in less than a month’s time, and we’ve been asking some of the leading club fansites and blogs for their opinion and views on how their team will do.

The popular Sunderland fansite, Ready To Go have been kind enough to give us their thoughts on everything Sunderland-related.

Your view of Sunderland last season

The 2006/2007 campaign for Sunderland was an unbelievable season. Four games into the season and we were rock bottom, things couldn’t get any worse. Then came Roy Keane and despite some inconsistency early on, he managed to turn things around and do the unimaginable in guiding Sunderland to both promotion and the league title.

Your view on the season ahead for Sunderland

The new season is a very excitable one for us Sunderland fans as for the first time in the Premier League we won’t be viewed as a soft touch which is largely thanks to Roy Keane and his staff. I don’t envisage Sunderland will struggle this season let alone get relegated as is generally anticipated from the football world. Although currently we haven’t strengthened our team too much we’ve added players who, like the rest of the squad, are hungry to do well in the Premier League which can only benefit the club.

Who is your enemy and why?

Newcastle United will obviously be viewed as our main enemy next season, though West Ham United are also viewed as an enemy by many fans. This is mainly due to the sheer arrogance of their fans who appear to believe they’re a better club than they really are.

Where you think you’ll finish in the Premiership this season?

This season’s finish: 10th

Thanks again to Ready to Go for their answers.
