Wigan Athletic manager Chris Hutchins is confident that Paul Robinson is keen to join the club.
The West Bromwich Albion left-back is desperate to play Premier League football once again and is said to have had a medical yesterday in a deal worth £1.5million.
Sunderland have also been linked with a move for the rugged defender, but it looks as if Hutchins has won the race.

Celtic defender Bobo Balde has pledged his future to the club, despite interest from Sunderland.
Press reports had suggested that Sunderland boss Roy Keane, who is a former team-mate of Balde’s during their time together at Celtic, had made a £1.5million offer for the defender.
The 31-year-old has two years remaining on his contract with the Scottish side and is focusing on fighting for his place.

Sunderland are ready to break the British transfer record for a goalkeeper by paying around £9million to Hearts for Craig Gordon.
The Scottish international is said to be very keen on a move to the Black Cats, with Sunderland and Hearts both refusing to comment on the speculation.

Fulham have completed the signing of Chris Baird from Southampton.
The Northern Ireland international defender was linked with a move to Sunderland, but has decided to move to London in a £3.025million deal.
Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez told the club’s official website, www.fulhamfc.com: “I’m delighted that Chris has chosen to join Fulham despite interest shown by other clubs.”
